Your New Role…

As the Sports Marketing Executive, you will be an integral member of the UK Marketing team supporting the Senior Marketing Manager, Marketing Manager within the Sports Marketing Team. You’ll be working on the phenomenal portfolio of sports rights on TNT Sports in the UK. This includes the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League, Gallagher Premiership Rugby, Investec Champions Cup, Autumn Internationals, Premiership Women’s Rugby, topflight Boxing, UFC, MotoGP, NBA, WNBA, Cricket and Formula E. You’ll also work alongside the central sports marketing group on pan-European rights including the Olympic Games up to 2032, Tennis, Snooker, Cycling and Motorsports. In addition, you’ll work alongside the streaming team as discovery+ is the streaming home of TNT Sports in the UK.

You will need to be incredibly knowledgeable about sport and be a fan yourself in order to fully immerse yourself in our audience. You’ll be able to work under pressure to the highest standards and be responsible for a range of activities including assisting and leading campaigns for our sports portfolio. Like every other member of the marketing department, you will need to be a positive, proactive self-starter, a great communicator, have a can-do attitude to your work as well as being fully adaptable and have a willingness to embrace change. Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Deliver integrated, engaging, and compelling 360 marketing campaigns around our sports brands and coverage, working closely with other functions such as Production, Media Planning, PR, Social & Digital, Partnerships, Trade and Streaming. This involves an end-to-end process from the creative brief which you would write, through to the delivery of assets and post campaign analysis. Initially these campaigns would be executed in support of the Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager with increasing autonomy as you gain experience.
  • Support the Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Manager and VP Marketing on the briefing of our media and creative agencies (both internal and external) with clear, concise, and compelling briefs.
  • With support of the Marketing Manager, set KPIs for campaigns and closely monitor brand tracker data.
  • Ability to concisely collate feedback from various stakeholders and confidently deliver to agencies as part of the campaign management process.
  • Create campaign summaries and decks for communication within the business, collating input from various cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with the internal Partnership and Trade Marketing team to ensure partner and affiliate comms around TNT Sports are as compelling as possible. Provide copy suggestions, image suggestions and check work as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the UK Streaming marketing team to ensure synergies between TNT Sports and discovery+ campaigns. Including specific support for CRM and performance marketing assets, allowing your deep knowledge of sport to inform creative.
  • Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure all campaigns adhere to guidelines.
  • Work and build relationships with rights holders, devising proactive activity and actioning reactive requests expediently, ensuring all contractual obligations are met whilst continuously seeking the optimum approach for both their brands and ours.
  • Support the Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Manager on budget management as required.
  • Provide any reporting needed for the Joint Venture, as directed by the Senior Marketing Manager or the VP Marketing.
  • Work with our Marketing Operations Manager to ensure purchase orders for suppliers and agencies are raised needed, chasing up internal approvals and liaise with suppliers to give PO numbers to ensure timely delivery of services. Also work with Marketing Manager and Marketing Operations Manager to set up new vendors and ensure invoice details are correct and paid.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • A solid understanding and experience of marketing within the media industry, ideally in TV/digital broadcasting and/or creative agencies.
  • Experience, deep knowledge and a love of Sport is essential to ensure all sports are portrayed accurately across the entire wider marketing landscape.
  • Enjoy being a collaborative team player with the ability to grasp new and complex issues quickly in a fast-paced environment working in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • An experienced multitasker with skills in managing several complex projects simultaneously – organisation and ability to work under pressure, move quickly and adapt while working with budgets and meeting tight deadlines are key to this role.
  • Experience of running campaigns including in on-air, off-air, and digital marketing. Experience of working with suppliers and external agencies. Ability to negotiate as needed.
  • Excellent and accurate communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Effective and creative use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good creative appraisal skills with outstanding attention to detail. Attention to detail is a must in this role with the ability to decipher, understand and communicate information around content legalities, rights and compliance when required.
  • A passion for TV, knowledge of WBD’s wider content slate, including entertainment, theatrical and games and all things media are highly desirable.
