Walmart has entered into a partnership with MobileX, a customizable mobile carrier, to provide cost-effective and personalized mobile phone plans to its customers.

Under this agreement, Walmart customers can access MobileX’s prepaid mobile plans through the walmart.mymobilex.com website and select Walmart stores across the country, as announced in a press release on Tuesday, September 26.

The primary challenge for individuals and families in the realm of mobile phones is affordability, according to the release. MobileX addresses this by offering tailored plans that enable customers to pay only for the services they use.

MobileX employs an AI-driven, app-based service to anticipate customers’ data requirements, resulting in cost savings while ensuring reliable connectivity. After a complimentary 10-day trial, MobileX’s AI-driven data forecaster crafts a personalized plan for each customer to optimize savings. Customers can monitor their data usage and adjust their plans as needed. The AI-driven data forecaster continuously tracks usage and notifies customers if modifying their plan can lead to cost savings.

The partnership will grant Walmart customers access to a variety of MobileX plans, with MobileX being compatible with most unlocked iPhones and Android devices.

In June, Walmart’s rival, Amazon, was reportedly in discussions with multiple wireless carriers to offer low-cost or potentially free nationwide mobile phone services to its Prime subscribers. This move aimed to enhance loyalty among Amazon’s highest-spending customers.

The Walmart-MobileX partnership was announced shortly after Walmart revealed its plans to launch its first pet services center, situated in Dallas, Georgia. This new facility will provide various pet services, including routine veterinary care, grooming, and self-serve dog washing. The center will serve as a pilot project, and the model may expand to other communities. Walmart’s goal is to offer pet services in a convenient and cost-effective manner, aligning with its commitment to saving customers money, time, and effort.
