United Airlines

United Airlines has announced a groundbreaking initiative to introduce Starlink, the world’s fastest and most reliable inflight connectivity, to its global passengers. This move represents a major leap forward for the airline, promising transformative inflight experiences for all travelers.

First Commercial Flight Planned by Spring

United is set to begin testing Starlink next month, with the first commercial flight featuring this advanced service scheduled for spring aboard an Embraer E-175 aircraft. The airline aims to equip its entire two-cabin regional fleet with Starlink by year-end, and its first mainline aircraft featuring Starlink is expected to take off before 2025. Ultimately, the plan is to integrate Starlink across the entire United fleet.

Complimentary Access for MileagePlus® Members

All MileagePlus members will have free access to Starlink’s inflight entertainment, including streaming, online shopping, gaming, and more. The loyalty program, free to join, offers passengers the opportunity to enjoy these premium benefits by signing up at united.com/starlink.

Redefining the Inflight Experience

Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus, highlighted the transformative potential of Starlink, stating, “We have big plans for our MileagePlus members this year, and rolling out Starlink across our fleet as quickly as possible is a central focus. It’s going to revolutionize flying with United and open up new partnerships and benefits for our members.”

Largest Partnership with SpaceX

In September, United signed the industry’s largest deal with SpaceX to bring Starlink to its fleet. Starting soon, United passengers will experience the same high-speed, low-latency internet in the air as they do on the ground. This gate-to-gate connectivity will be available on both seatback screens and personal devices, offering an unparalleled digital experience in the skies.

MileagePlus: Leading Airline Loyalty Program

MileagePlus, recognized as the best airline loyalty program globally, offers numerous perks:

  • Free enrollment for all customers
  • Ability to earn miles without fees
  • Miles that never expire
  • No blackout dates for award seats
  • Redeem miles for almost any purchase on United, from seats to snacks
  • The first U.S. airline to enable pooling miles with family and friends

Every day, approximately 31,000 United passengers use MileagePlus miles, equivalent to filling 100 Boeing 777 aircraft. During the summer of 2024, over three million travelers redeemed miles for award tickets.

With these innovations, United Airlines is poised to redefine inflight connectivity and entertainment, ensuring passengers remain connected and engaged throughout their journey.
