Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia X, commented: “Thai AirAsia X is returning to Sydney with a better network, schedule and enhanced connectivity spanning over 50 Aussie favourite destinations in Thailand and beyond to meet strong demand.
“At the same time, we are increasing the number of flights between both destinations to fly six times weekly every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday (2 flights), and Saturday. Arriving at Don Mueang Airport (DMK) makes the route even more convenient, placing passengers just 30 minutes from central Bangkok via public transport options such as the sky train (Red Line), airport bus, and taxi cabs. Outbound travellers with connecting services will also save time at the airport by being able to quickly pass from check-in through immigration to their gate at the same airport with no need to change airport terminals like before.
“Thai AirAsia X operating out of Don Mueang Airport enables travellers to connect to many more Thai AirAsia destinations throughout Thailand and internationally, in particular, the Indian market that is in high demand. Passengers can choose Fly Thru service at Don Mueang Airport to pass through immigration and receive their luggage at their terminal destination, allowing for even further journeys” Mr. Tassapon said.
Thai AirAsia X currently operates a fleet of eight Airbus A330 aircraft with plans to extend the fleet to 11 by year end before acquiring 3-5 more aircraft each year in line with its growth and increased demand. At present, the airline flies from Bangkok to seven core destinations of Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, and Nagoya in Japan, Seoul in South Korea, Shanghai in China and Sydney in Australia. The airline also connects to the AirAsia Group network with seven airlines now operating under the AirAsia brand with over 150 destinations via key hubs in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta and Manilla.
