SriLankan Airlines introduced its most recent initiative, ‘The Colours of Jaffna,’ just last week. This initiative aims to boost tourism growth by means of a fresh video presentation that effectively showcases the remarkable architecture and distinctive cultural aspects found within the northern city of Jaffna and its renowned peninsula.

The video takes a close look at the yearly Nallur Kandaswamy Festival, which takes place in the town of Nallur in Jaffna. This festival is characterized by exuberant celebrations that span a remarkable duration of 20 to 25 days. In 2023, the festival commenced on the 21st of August and will conclude on the 15th of September.

In support of their promotional efforts, SriLankan Airlines’ leisure division, SriLankan Holidays, has rolled out enticing vacation packages encompassing the finest offerings of Jaffna, in collaboration with Jetwing Hotels serving as their exclusive hospitality partner.

The upcoming phase of the campaign involves engaging content creators and influential figures in the realm of social media, who will embark on journeys aboard SriLankan flights to personally immerse themselves in the destination. Their experiences will serve as a source of inspiration for their followers, encouraging them to follow suit.

This invitation to explore Jaffna via SriLankan’s extensive network extends to India, the airline’s largest market, which boasts connectivity to the island through more than 80 weekly flights originating from nine major Indian cities.

Additionally, the airline is actively promoting travel activities centered around two major events: the Asia Cup cricket tournament, culminating on the 17th of September, and the annual Kandy Esala Perahera, which unfolds from the 21st to the 24th of August. This festival is renowned worldwide for its grandeur and features magnificent elephant processions led by traditional dancers through the narrow streets of Kandy town’s city center. Notably, the 2024 edition of this festival is scheduled to take place from the 10th to the 20th of July in 2024.
