SAP has announced the general availability of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, a tailored enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution specifically designed for retail, fashion, and other vertical industries. This milestone offering delivers customized ERP capabilities to retailers of all sizes worldwide.

Leslie Hand, Group Vice President of IDC Retail Insights, highlighted the platform’s value, noting that it addresses a major industry challenge: fragmented solutions that lack the end-to-end integration necessary for seamless retail operations. Balaji Balasubramanian, SAP’s Senior Vice President for Commerce and Consumer Industries, added that this new ERP solution equips retailers with industry-specific tools to handle complex merchandising, store operations, and supply chains—areas where generic ERP systems often fall short. Built on public cloud architecture, the platform integrates industry-specific processes, data, and AI to streamline operations and enhance customer experiences. Key features include unified finance, procurement, and merchandising management, as well as ready-to-use AI capabilities.

New Loyalty Management Solution

SAP also announced a loyalty management solution for retailers and consumer goods companies, set to launch in late 2025. This offering aims to address customer dissatisfaction with traditional loyalty programs, as revealed by SAP Emarsys research showing 83% of U.S. consumers feel undervalued by brands they support.

The new loyalty solution integrates with SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP Service Cloud, and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, and includes:

  • Loyalty profiles with personalized offers, entitlements, and real-time basket analysis.
  • Multi-brand loyalty management for centralized programs across regions and markets.
  • Omnichannel promotion planning with real-time redemption and digital payment integration.
  • Loyalty journey planning to create personalized, experiential customer interactions.
  • Performance metrics to track ROI, manage liabilities, and enable settlements with partner brands.

AI-Powered Shopping Assistant

Additionally, SAP will launch an AI shopping assistant in early 2025 as part of its SAP CX AI Toolkit. Designed to enhance the online shopping experience, the assistant uses natural language conversations to help customers find products efficiently, expanding the capabilities of SAP Commerce Cloud.

These innovations demonstrate SAP’s commitment to providing cutting-edge tools that optimize retail operations, improve customer engagement, and drive growth across the industry.
