Sainsbury’s is bringing back its seasonal Nectar “Count Up To Christmas” challenge, offering customers the chance to unlock up to 1,500 bonus points in the run-up to the festive period. Running from 1 October until 11 November 2025, the promotion is designed to give shoppers extra value at a time when household budgets are under pressure.

To take part, Nectar members must opt in through the app or website by selecting “Join the challenge.” Once registered, customers are presented with a series of five personalised tasks tailored to their shopping behaviour. These can include weekly shop thresholds, fuel purchases at Sainsbury’s petrol stations, or basket-based targets in groceries and general merchandise. Completing the tasks by Christmas Eve triggers additional bonus points on top of the standard one point per £1 spent.

Last year, more than a million customers joined the campaign, and Sainsbury’s expects similar engagement in 2025 as it continues to invest in Nectar360 and digital personalisation. The programme has become a key driver of loyalty in a competitive UK grocery landscape, particularly when paired with initiatives such as “Your Nectar Prices,” which gives members access to weekly discounts across hundreds of products.

Points earned through the Christmas challenge can be redeemed not only at Sainsbury’s but also with popular partners including Argos and eBay—helping shoppers stretch their spending further during the festive season. For customers still using a physical Nectar card, participation is simple: download the Nectar app, link the card, and start collecting.

With holiday spending under close scrutiny for many households, the return of “Count Up To Christmas” combines festive anticipation with tangible savings—reinforcing Nectar’s position as one of the UK’s most widely used loyalty schemes.
