GLOThe idea is being developed by BAGTAG (a Strategic Partner of the FTE Baggage Innovation Working Group), and it will enable travellers to check in their luggage using their smartphones while also speeding up and streamlining the process. Travelers may quickly prepare the reusable electronic device at home and attach it to their luggage. It has a working e-paper display. Passengers can digitally label their bags after using the Qatar Airways smartphone app to check in for their flight. Then, luggage can be left at one of the airport’s approved locations. The use of electronic bag tags is a reflection of Qatar Airways’ unwavering dedication to offering the finest travel experience and a more frictionless and seamless journey.
The BAGTAG software implementation was coordinated in cooperation with Amadeus. Qatar Airways is one of the first airlines in the Middle East to offer fully customised BAGTAGs to its passengers in addition to being the first airline to use electronic bag tags. Later this year, these will be made accessible through a few Qatar Duty Free stores. Any electronic bag tag device connected to the BAGTAG platform can be used on Qatar Airways flights all around the world thanks to the software architecture provided by the airline’s app.
