Minor HotelsMinor Hotels, a prominent global hospitality group with a portfolio of over 550 hotels across 56 countries, has announced the launch of the first NH Hotels & Resorts property in the Indian Ocean. The NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort is set to open on September 1, 2024.
Situated in the South Ari Atoll, just a 25-minute seaplane journey from Malé, the capital, NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort offers marine enthusiasts unparalleled access to some of the world’s most extraordinary diving and snorkeling sites. Guests can explore the famed Kuda Rah Thila, an underwater pinnacle adorned with vibrant soft corals and home to a variety of marine life, including blue-striped snappers, turtles, napoleons, and occasionally, white tip and grey reef sharks.

The atoll is also a hotspot for larger marine species, making whale shark and manta ray sightings a common experience, with over 50 established dive sites just a short boat ride away from the resort.
NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort is an intimate retreat featuring 51 modern deluxe suites and villas, each with an inner courtyard or beach-facing pool. These spacious accommodations range from 90 to 231 square meters and are designed with solid wood floors, a soothing color palette of whites and ocean blues, and charming pitched roofs that celebrate the natural beauty of the Maldives.
Dining at NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort is a leisurely affair, with options that embrace the rhythms of the ocean. Sea Spray, the all-day dining venue with stunning ocean views, offers an international buffet that ranges from breakfast classics to inventive vegetarian dishes. At the Ocean specialty restaurant, guests can enjoy fresh-caught seafood, handpicking their preferred catch of the day—whether lobster or prawns—and customizing their dishes with interactive dining options.
Glow, a chic bar and lounge overlooking the resort’s central infinity pool, ensures that refreshing beverages and delicious snacks are always close at hand. Malaa, an open-air show kitchen, invites guests to dive into seafood-driven Maldivian cuisine through engaging cooking classes accompanied by live music performances. For a truly indulgent experience, guests can opt for in-villa dining or bespoke beachside meals.
The resort’s spa offers a holistic blend of relaxation and rejuvenation, featuring traditional Balinese and Thai massages, along with therapeutic treatments that incorporate local elements. The spa includes three tranquil treatment rooms, each equipped with a private steam room and Jacuzzi, and a dedicated room for manicures and pedicures. Fitness enthusiasts can maintain their routines at the state-of-the-art gym, while young guests are entertained at the indoor kids’ club, with babysitting services available for parents.
Christophe Adam, General Manager of NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort, expressed his excitement about the debut: “We are thrilled to introduce NH Kuda Rah Resort Maldives as the first NH-branded property in the Indian Ocean. Our resort is designed to offer an intimate experience that is closely connected to the natural splendor of the Maldives. Whether guests are diving at the renowned Kuda Rah Thila, enjoying the peaceful surroundings of their private villas, or embarking on water sports adventures like parasailing, we are committed to making every moment memorable.”

The resort caters to a wide array of interests, allowing guests to escape their busy lives and enjoy a relaxed routine. Honeymooners can explore the stunning Maldivian archipelago through island-hopping excursions, while families can dive into exceptional snorkeling and diving experiences, participate in coral planting projects to help restore the local ecosystem, and enjoy whale shark excursions or big game fishing adventures for a touch of adrenaline.
Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International, highlighted the significance of the new property: “Minor Hotels has long been a major player in the Maldivian hospitality sector, a region of great strategic importance for our group. The introduction of NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort as our first upscale property in the archipelago marks an important expansion of our luxury portfolio. This resort underscores our commitment to offering a diverse range of experiences while maintaining the high standards of quality and service that our guests expect from Minor Hotels.”
The opening of NH Kuda Rah Resort expands Minor Hotels’ presence in the Maldives to eight properties and follows the debut of NH Collection in the archipelago last year. It also marks the third global resort under the NH Hotels & Resorts brand, following the NH Marina Portimão Resort in Portugal and NH Boat Lagoon Phuket Resort in Thailand.
NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort can be reached via a 25-minute seaplane journey from Malé, followed by a brief 5-10 minute transfer by speedboat or traditional Dhoni. For more information or to book a stay, please visit [NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort](https://world.nh-hotels.com/en/nh-maldives-kuda-rah).
