The State of AI 2025 report highlights key trends, challenges, and best practices shaping AI deployment, particularly in generative AI (gen AI). Businesses are restructuring workflows, refining governance strategies, and managing risks to maximize AI’s value.

1. AI Adoption is Accelerating Across Industries

AI adoption is no longer a niche trend. 78% of organizations now use AI in at least one business function, up from 72% in early 2024. More companies are expanding AI into multiple functions, particularly in:

  • IT and software engineering
  • Marketing and sales
  • Product and service development
  • Service operations

The most significant growth has been in IT, where AI adoption rose from 27% to 36% in just six months. Large enterprises, especially those with over $500 million in annual revenue, are leading the way in AI deployment.
