The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre recently launched its new website, marking the initial step towards creating a comprehensive omnichannel customer experience. Developed in collaboration with design and innovation agency AKQA’s Melbourne team, the revamped website ensures a smooth and captivating user experience, featuring enhanced accessibility and providing a detailed glimpse into the venue’s various spaces.

A notable highlight of the website is the incorporation of 360-degree virtual tours, expertly filmed by SmartView Media, a prominent Matterport 3D Virtual Tour provider in Australia. These virtual tours, supported by Tourism Australia’s Business Events Advance Programme, offer customers from around the world a chance to explore MCEC’s state-of-the-art facilities and spaces. As a significant portion of the current website users hail from overseas (20%), the virtual tours facilitate a virtual exploration of MCEC’s offerings.

The website boasts simple navigation, enabling customers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the venue’s layout and capabilities, thus enhancing their event planning experience. While the initial virtual tours showcase several spaces, more rooms will be added in the upcoming months, ultimately providing a visual representation of all 35 room types available for booking at MCEC.

Liz Kozmevski, MCEC’s Head of Marketing, expressed that the website serves as the first point of contact for customers and visitors, and it was designed to reflect the exceptional experiences offered within the venue.

Beyond the virtual tours, the new website furnishes customers with abundant information and resources to assist them in planning their events. Additionally, it showcases the best of Melbourne, inspiring potential visitors and organizers who are considering the city for their next event.

For those interested, the new MCEC website awaits exploration, offering the opportunity to embark on a virtual tour of the venue’s remarkable spaces at www.mcec.com.au.
