Tesco has announced it will be bringing back its Kids Eat Free scheme to its 315 cafés across the UK over the February half term.

The supermarket’s cafes will be offering one free Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal with each item bought by an adult from as little as 60p when showing their Tesco Clubcard at the till.

Popular menu items include beans or avocado on toast, fish fingers, baked chicken goujons or a sandwich. Hot main meals include a vegetable side dish, and the sandwich pick n mix includes a piece of fresh fruit and two snacks, so there’s something healthy and satisfying to feed hungry children from breakfast until dinner.

Jason Tarry, Tesco UK CEO, said: “We know that household budgets can be stretched over the school holidays, so offering free meals to children when they’re off school is one of the ways we can support families during this time.”

In 2023, Tesco provided more than 440,000 free meals to children and families during school holidays. Kids Eat Free is just one of the many ways that Tesco is helping families spend less. January saw Tesco cut the price of more than 150 everyday items by an average of 12.5% to help customers reduce the cost of their weekly shop and help stretch the family budget as they go into 2024.  And with hundreds of items price matched to Aldi, and thousands of exclusive deals offering up to 50% off through Clubcard Prices, Tesco is committed to helping customers save money on their shopping.

July 2023 saw Tesco launch Stronger Starts: a £5m grant programme, in partnership with Groundwork UK, to give children across the UK a stronger start in life. The grants help schools and children’s groups provide nutritious food and healthy activities that support young people’s physical health and mental wellbeing, such as breakfast clubs or snacks, and equipment for healthy activities. Customers can support their local school and children’s groups by dropping the Tesco blue token they receive at checkout into the relevant voting box as they leave the store.

To help with the cost of half-term, customers can also exchange their Clubcard vouchers with Tesco Reward Partners, including family favourites such as PizzaExpress and Cineword. A full list of all partners can be found here.

One free Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal per item purchased by an adult in The Café for dine-in only, a child must be present. Clubcard/app required. Live 12/02/2024 – 23/02/2024. Monday – Friday only (excludes weekends). Offer is subject to availability and kids meals may vary in cafés. Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix may be the only option available in some cafés, this consists of 1 sandwich, 1 drink, 1 fruit item and a choice of 2 snacks. The Café has the right to withdraw or amend the offer.
