This month, the Kepler International Hospitality Academy (KIHA) is launching its inaugural hospitality educational program, set to take place in Amsterdam on 7 October 2024. As the first of its kind, KIHA aims to evolve current luxury hospitality models with a focus on impact-positive hospitality. The academy is responding to the rapidly changing expectations of affluent consumers and the need for hoteliers to prioritize people and the planet.

KIHA was established to equip today’s industry leaders with the expertise needed to redefine and deliver elevated luxury in hospitality. The academy was founded by Jannes Sörensen, Phillippe Krenzer, Jacob Mayne, and Ken Yokoyama, and its five-month Senior Executive Leadership Programme is designed for ambitious senior executives in the premium hospitality sector who seek to challenge existing luxury hospitality models in line with evolving consumer demand.

Delivering impact-positive luxury hospitality requires acute awareness, rigorous discipline, and a deep understanding of strategy, combined with top-tier business and leadership skills. The Senior Executive Leadership Programme is centered around three core themes: Deep Service Hospitality, Positive Impact Business Models, and Leadership through Self-Mastery. It is divided into two stages:

The first stage includes three intensive five-day residential study modules, two in Europe (Amsterdam and Freiburg/Basel) and one in Asia (Kyoto). The second stage involves a two-month Leadership Assignment in the Workplace. Throughout the program, participants receive support from assigned mentors, coaches, and peer groups, with development coaching sessions provided before, during, and after the study modules.

KIHA Founder Jannes Sörensen states, “Kepler’s intensive, experience-based approach to developing senior hospitality managers is unique in the international business school world. While traditional hospitality management schools emphasize technical and financial subjects, KIHA focuses on personal growth and development, as well as acquiring new business skills and insights.”

Philippe Krenzer adds, “Today’s leading hoteliers are often operationally excellent, but at this stage of their careers, they need to become visionary leaders. This training program will immerse them in situations that challenge their certainties.”

The KIHA Leadership Programme is highly selective, with each cohort limited to 15 participants. A diverse mix of participants is a key feature of KIHA programs, with successful candidates representing a broad range of hospitality models, national cultures, and professional backgrounds to enhance the cohort’s learning experience.
