India’s Ministry of Tourism hosted the 46th edition of the PATA Travel Mart 2023 at New Delhi’s International Exhibition and Convention Centre (IECC). This marked the return of the physical version of the Travel Mart after a three-year hiatus, a choice attributed to the resilience of both domestic and international travel sectors in India. The country’s outbound travel market has shown significant growth, particularly within Asia, positioning it as a key source market alongside China in terms of volume and tourism revenue potential.

The three-day event, PATA Travel Mart 2023, concluded, bringing together tourism professionals from around the world to experience India’s attractions firsthand. PATA chair Peter Semone expressed gratitude to India’s Ministry of Tourism for hosting this comeback event, emphasizing how it provided a platform for the region’s tourism industry to showcase unique destinations and build networks. He also praised the “Travel for Life” initiative, deeming it a fantastic endeavor worthy of replication worldwide.

Tourism Secretary V Vidyavati highlighted how PTM has acted as a catalyst for tourism in the Asia Pacific region, emphasizing the unifying power of tourism and the importance of learning from one another. “Travel for Life” focuses on the sustainable and harmonious development of tourist destinations.

The event featured the prestigious live PATA Gold Awards ceremony and the physical return of the PATA Youth Symposium. A dedicated pavilion for India offered an immersive experience showcasing a wide range of destinations, both well-known and lesser-known. Additionally, State Governments such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh had their own pavilions at the Mart.
