IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to unveil the Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar Resort & Spa, the first of its kind in the region, on September 1, 2024. Situated at an elevation of 2,000 meters on Jabal Akhdar, a mountain range in Oman’s Ad Dakhiliyah governorate known as the “Green Mountain,” this boutique lifestyle resort will offer 173 elegantly designed rooms, suites, and chalets, each providing breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and canyons. The resort’s design takes cues from its mountain setting, reflecting the colors and textures of the landscape while paying homage to Omani heritage. Every detail and experience at the resort is crafted to tell the story of the resilient communities that have lived in this area for centuries. Once a challenging destination to access due to its rugged terrain, Jabal Akhdar now attracts travelers eager for outdoor adventures, a connection with nature, and an authentic taste of Omani village life.

Guests at the resort will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the life of the “Green Mountain,” exploring historic villages, discovering ancient mountain dwellings, hiking through terraced gardens, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the mountain air. The resort’s Jala Spa & Wellness offers a comprehensive wellness experience, drawing on ancient Omani traditions and modern techniques. The spa includes three wellness zones, Himalayan salt rooms, thermal areas, and indoor vitality pools, all designed to rejuvenate and refresh guests.

The dining experience at the resort features three distinct venues inspired by the historical Zanzibari spice trade, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. Vue Rooftop & Lounge, the highest rooftop in the Middle East, offers stunning panoramic views of the canyons, along with craft cocktails and wood-fired dishes. Wadi Habib provides a warm, inviting atmosphere where guests can savor authentic Omani cuisine, while Zaatar offers a lively all-day dining experience, perfect for sharing stories with fellow travelers.

James Reeves, the general manager, expressed pride in the resort, noting the team’s dedication to creating a place that truly captures the spirit of Jabal Akhdar. From the moment guests arrive, they will feel the unique magic of the mountain, making lasting memories connected to the local culture.

As the first Hotel Indigo resort in the region, this property is part of IHG’s Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio. The brand, known for its commitment to reflecting the character of its surroundings, has over 158 hotels worldwide, with 133 more in development as of June 30, 2024. Each Hotel Indigo property is designed to encapsulate the essence of its neighborhood, aiming to foster a deep connection between guests and the local culture.
