New franchise agreements in Greece, Portugal and Croatia underscore Hilton’s commitment to growth in Europe’s resorts market

Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc.Hilton (NYSE: HLT) continues its rapid expansion in Europe’s resorts market with four new franchise agreements that strengthen its Mediterranean portfolio. The newly signed resorts in Greece, Portugal, and Croatia will introduce unique experiences under the Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and Curio Collection by Hilton brands. Hilton Mykonos Beach Resort & Spa and Sound of the Sea Karpathos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Greece; Casa de Sada Algarve, Curio Collection by Hilton in Portugal; and Hotel Preko Ugljan, Curio Collection by Hilton in Croatia, are set to open over the next two years.

These new properties highlight Hilton’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional resort experiences in Europe’s most sought-after travel destinations and join more than 100 resorts either operating or in development across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region under nine brands. This expansion aligns with Hilton’s strategy to enhance its resorts globally, which has doubled over the past five years and now includes more than 350 properties around the world.

According to Hilton’s 2025 Trends Report, many travellers are looking for destinations that balance relaxation with immersive, culturally enriching experiences to maximise their time away. Hilton’s new Mediterranean properties respond to this demand.

Hilton Mykonos Beach Resort & Spa
Hilton Mykonos Beach Resort & Spa will be located on the renowned Super Paradise Beach in Mykonos, Greece, under a franchise agreement with Vasileios Lamprou Ksenodochiakes Epichiriseis S.A. The 75-room resort, scheduled to open in 2026, will feature elegantly designed rooms and suites with private verandas or balconies, 34 of which offer private pools. Guests will enjoy two restaurants, two bars, indoor and outdoor pools, a fashion boutique shop, a spa with four treatment rooms, a hammam, and a sauna, a fully equipped gym, and meeting space for business and social events. Conveniently located just 12.8 km from Mykonos International Airport and 4 km from Mykonos town, the resort ensures easy access for overseas visitors.
Sound of the Sea Karpathos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Sound of the Sea Karpathos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, following a franchise agreement with CHC Hotels, will bring a boutique, adults-friendly resort experience to Karpathos, Greece, marking the brand’s debut on the island. Slated for opening in the spring of 2025, the 43-key resort will offer guests an authentic island retreat, complete with direct beach access and locally inspired dining options. The resort will feature 42 rooms and one cottage, with 14 rooms offering private pools and six rooms equipped with mini spas. Guests can enjoy amenities such as an outdoor pool, fashion boutique shop, fitness centre, and wellness centre with three treatment rooms. Dining options include an à la carte restaurant with Greek organic cuisine and a fresh fish and seafood restaurant, as well as a snack and coffee/cocktail bar. The resort is conveniently located just 850 metres from Karpathos Pigadia port and 14.3 km from Karpathos Airport.
Casa de Sada Algarve, Curio Collection by Hilton
Casa de Sada Algarve, Curio Collection by Hilton, is set to open at a prime beachfront location on the Armação De Pêra coastline in the Algarve, Portugal in the second half of 2025, under a franchise agreement with Crimson Hotels. This 184-bedroom property will enjoy unrivalled beach access as well as offering a variety of exceptional amenities, including a main restaurant, a specialty food restaurant, beach restaurant and bar, spa, gym, and two external pools and pool bars, creating an upscale retreat in one of Portugal’s most visited regions. The bedrooms are elegant in design with many featuring balconies with ocean views. The resort is just a short drive from popular destinations such as Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago. Faro Algarve Airport is only 21 km away, ensuring convenient access for international travellers.
Hotel Preko Ugljan, Curio Collection by Hilton
Hotel Preko Ugljan, Curio Collection by Hilton, will soon open on Croatia’s scenic Ugljan Island near Zadar, following a franchise agreement with Mr. Hrvoje Pezic of PREKO d.o.o. The new-build resort, expected to open in the summer of 2025, will feature 65 thoughtfully designed rooms, including seven spacious suites, each with additional external balconies. Guests will enjoy a range of exceptional amenities, such as a restaurant, meeting room of 50m², executive lounge, spa with pool, sauna, and gym. Additionally, the resort boasts a Retreat Garden with an outdoor swimming pool, bar and bites station, and a relax zone among olive trees. Conveniently located in Preko, the resort offers easy access to historic towns and pristine beaches along the Adriatic Sea. The resort is just a 25-minute ferry ride from Zadar, which has an international airport.
Hilton’s focus on bringing resorts to sought-after destinations has led to significant growth across Europe’s Mediterranean coasts, with the opening of 10 new resorts across Greece, Spain, Italy, Croatia, and Malta in 2024 alone:
- In Greece, Hilton introduced Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton; Domes Aulūs Elounda, Curio Collection by Hilton; Semeli Coast Mykonos Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton; Isla Brown Corinthia Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton; and Isla Brown Chania Crete Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton.
Spain saw the openings of Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton and The Club Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza.
In Italy, Hilton welcomed Mangia’s Santa Teresa Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, located in Sardinia.
Croatia’s Adriatic coastline now boasts Keight Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection by Hilton, while DoubleTree by Hilton Malta opened in the heart of the Mediterranean.
