Driving Environmental Innovation Through Green Hospitality
H World is advancing a low-carbon future under three major sustainability themes:
-
Green Buildings: The company’s flagship hotel models—Hanting 3.5, JI Hotel 5.0, and Hi Inn 2.0—utilize modular construction to reduce waste, shorten build times, and minimize environmental impacts.
-
Green Operations: H World has integrated sustainability metrics into its supply chain, focusing on eco-friendly materials, smart linen tracking, and efficient laundry systems to lower water and energy usage.
-
Green Services: Through the “Green Living” initiative, 872,000 guest stays in China opted out of towel replacements in 2024, reducing over 7.88 million towel washings. This saved 24,000+ tons of water, 680 MWh of electricity, and avoided 676 tons of carbon emissions. This impact was achieved in partnership with Alipay, integrating hospitality with digital innovation.
Fostering Inclusive Talent and Career Development
With a workforce of 28,502 full-time employees, of which 62.4% are women, H World continues to lead in gender inclusion and talent development. In China, nearly 60% of hotel general managers are female, and women make up 42.9% of the company’s board.
The company partnered with over 130 universities in 100+ cities, providing 2,600+ internship opportunities annually. H World earned accolades including “Outstanding Industry-Academia Cooperation Case” from China’s Ministry of Education and “Most Popular Employer Among University Students” from 51job. Internationally, H World International was named “Best Trainer in Germany” by Capital magazine.
Community Engagement and Social Responsibility
H World remained active in humanitarian and rural development efforts:
-
In response to flooding in Guilin (June 2024), the company offered shelter, hot meals, and internet access in its hotels.
-
Through its “Hotel + Rural Economy” model, JI Hotel sourced 30,000 kg of tea annually from Zhenghe County and built an eco-farm demo site in Heilongjiang.
-
The “Scholarly HanTing” e-learning initiative, launched in 2016, expanded in 2024 to reach more rural schools, offering teacher training and high-quality digital education to underserved students.
Governance & Supplier Responsibility
To ensure robust service quality and risk mitigation, H World enhanced its internal governance by forming a Security Assurance Committee led by the CEO and enacting 16 internal safety and data privacy policies. The company also launched a third-party audit system for supplier compliance. In 2024, 972 supplier audits were conducted, with strategic supplier coverage reaching 98%.
H World’s 2024 Sustainability Report illustrates a company aligning business growth with global sustainability goals, innovation, and human-centric values—laying a solid foundation for long-term resilience and leadership in responsible hospitality.
