Etihad Airways is marking the holy month of Ramadan with a series of thoughtfully curated experiences across its global network, bringing elements of traditional Emirati hospitality to guests both in the air and on the ground.
Through enhanced dining, cultural programming and small gestures of care, the airline aims to reflect the spirit of community, reflection and generosity that defines Ramadan while sharing the richness of Emirati culture with travellers worldwide.
Turky Alhammadi, Director of Product and Hospitality at Etihad Airways, said the initiative is designed to create meaningful moments for guests during this sacred time. He emphasized that Ramadan offers an opportunity to unite travellers through authentic flavours, cultural connection and elevated hospitality, with added touches of comfort and reflection throughout the journey.
A Ramadan-Inspired Culinary Experience
Throughout Ramadan, Etihad is presenting a specially curated menu featuring authentic Arabian dishes and seasonal favourites prepared with fresh, regionally sourced ingredients.
The experience begins in premium lounges at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and the Etihad Lounge at London Heathrow, where First and Business Class guests can enjoy iftar platters and Ramadan-inspired cuisine. Signature dishes include Arabic-spiced grilled lobster alongside traditional desserts such as date kunafa and rose and pomegranate mousse cake.
Onboard, premium cabin travellers are served classic Emirati and Middle Eastern dishes, including Arabic mixed grill selections and an array of Ramadan desserts such as cardamom and date pudding, pistachio caramel cake and saffron-orange cake. Guests may also choose lighter options like a Healthy Iftar Salad infused with regional flavours.
Economy Class passengers are likewise offered Ramadan-inspired meals, including Arabic braised lamb or chicken served with vermicelli rice, fried onions, cashews and raisins, followed by traditional Emirati sweets.
For guests observing Ramadan on flights that fall outside iftar or suhoor times, Etihad is providing takeaway meal bags before boarding or upon arrival to support those fasting.
Cultural Programming In The Air
Ramadan programming extends to Etihad’s E-BOX inflight entertainment system, where passengers can access curated religious content and themed programming throughout March. This includes cooking shows showcasing traditional Ramadan dishes and features exploring how Muslim communities around the world observe the holy month.
In Abu Dhabi, the March edition of Etihad’s inflight magazine Beyond highlights Ramadan events across the city, offering recommendations for visitors experiencing the season in the UAE capital, whether through a holiday, stopover or as residents.
Supporting Umrah Travel
In time for Ramadan, Etihad has also strengthened connectivity for religious travellers by relaunching direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Medina. Operating four times weekly since November 2025, the route offers seamless access for those undertaking Umrah during the holy month.
Through culinary offerings, cultural content and enhanced services, Etihad’s Ramadan programme reflects its broader commitment to honouring heritage while delivering a premium and culturally sensitive travel experience across its network.
