GLOThe recently launched program, initiated on October 16, is named AAdvantage Business, and it replaces the previous Business Extra program. AAdvantage Business aims to expedite loyalty status accumulation for business travelers and expand the range of redemption possibilities for businesses.
With AAdvantage Business, employees traveling on behalf of participating small- and medium-sized businesses will earn one point for every dollar spent toward AAdvantage loyalty status. This is a benefit that was not offered under the previous Business Extra program. These points will accumulate in addition to the reward miles and loyalty points that travelers earn as individual AAdvantage members.
Simultaneously, companies that enroll in AAdvantage Business will earn one reward mile for each dollar spent on flights, provided that the travel is booked through the American Airlines website or app.
Companies can redeem the miles they accumulate for various services available within the AAdvantage program. This includes options like flights, hotels, car rentals, and access to the Admiral Club. American Airlines has stated that the redemption possibilities under AAdvantage Business are broader compared to what was offered through the Business Extra program. The previous program had its own point system, where one point was earned for every $5 spent by a company on flights. These points could be redeemed for flights, upgrades, lounge access, and AAdvantage Gold or Platinum status but did not allow for the redemption of points for lodging or car rentals.
To participate in AAdvantage Business, companies must have at least five employees. They can register at aa.com/aadvantagebusiness.
Companies can still redeem points earned under the Business Extra program through Jan. 31.
To earn points AAdvantage Business for upcoming travel, companies will need to cancel and rebook Business Extra reservations.
