Alipay+, the provider of cross-border digital payment and marketing solutions, has announced a series of events and promotions in the United Arab Emirates to commemorate the Chinese New Year festivities. These initiatives aim to connect merchants in Dubai with Asian tourists through captivating visuals and exclusive offers.

The festive promotions at key locations in Dubai aim to provide travelers with better savings, special deals, and enhanced convenience while exploring the city during the Chinese New Year, making the region one of the most desirable holiday destinations for Chinese visitors.

Facilitating a seamless payment experience in the UAE, visitors arriving at Dubai Airport can scan for offers through the QR codes on Alipay+ seasonal advertisements located in the arrival halls of Terminal One and Three using their e-wallets. From hailing a taxi across the city with Dubai Taxi to shopping at Dubai Mall and Duty Free at the airport, international visitors can enjoy a hassle-free travel experience in Dubai from arrival to departure. Upon departure, users can benefit from real-time tax refunds from Alipay+ partner, Planet Tax Free, at Dubai Airport.

Supported e-wallets include Alipay (Chinese mainland), AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR, China), MPay (Macao SAR, China), Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, and Toss Pay (South Korea), OCBC (Singapore), Touch&Go (Malaysia), GCash (The Philippines), TrueMoney (Thailand), Tinaba (Italy), and more.

Asian visitors will enjoy promotional discounts and stand a chance to win EURO 2024 tickets across Dubai. Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall, will offer instant discounts for Alipay+ users when they pay for purchases with their home e-wallet throughout February. Additionally, travelers departing from Dubai can participate in a competition at Dubai Airport Duty Free Shop from February 7th to February 29th, 2024, where spending over 250 AED with home e-wallets qualifies them to win a pair of UEFA EURO 2024 tickets for the Spain vs Italy match on June 20th in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, including flights and accommodation.

To welcome the Year of the Dragon, Alipay+ will illuminate the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, with a seasonal video displayed on the building’s facade from February 8th to February 11th, 2024, featuring traditional motifs symbolizing the Year of the Dragon to greet international visitors to Dubai.

Guoming Cheng, General Manager of Ant Group in Europe and the Middle East, expressed excitement about welcoming international visitors to Dubai to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dragon. He highlighted the incredible benefits offered by Alipay+ to travelers across the city, including eye-catching displays at Burj Khalifa, promotional discounts at Dubai Mall, and the opportunity to win UEFA EURO tickets when shopping with retail partners during the festive season.
