AirAsiaAirAsia is celebrating the recent announcement of visa-free travel from India to Malaysia by introducing special promotional fares for a limited time on routes connecting the two countries.
In response to the recent declaration by the Malaysian government, Indian citizens can now enjoy visa-free travel to Malaysia, a groundbreaking initiative expected to drive increased demand for travel to Malaysia.
This initiative signifies a noteworthy achievement in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. To commemorate this milestone, AirAsia has taken steps to enhance inter-country travel, including the launch of a new route to Thiruvananthapuram starting on February 21, 2024, and the introduction of special fares between Malaysia and India.
In addition to these developments, AirAsia has announced a substantial increase in services between Malaysia and India, totaling an impressive 69 weekly flights beginning in the first quarter of 2024, providing up to 1.5 million seats annually.
Until December 24, 2024, travelers have the opportunity to book flights to seven destinations in South India within AirAsia’s network at a special promotional price. Passengers can fly to Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and soon Thiruvananthapuram for MYR189* one way. For travelers from India visiting Malaysia, direct flights to and from Kuala Lumpur from any of these routes are available for just INR4,999*. The travel period starts immediately and concludes on September 30, 2024.
Riad Asmat, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, expressed gratitude for the 30-day visa-free entry for Indian citizens to Malaysia, highlighting it as one of the year’s highlights for AirAsia. The airline has been committed to enhancing regional connectivity between India and Malaysia since launching its first route to India in 2008. Asmat extended gratitude to the Malaysian government for this significant decision, anticipating a positive impact on local tourism and cultural exchange.
AirAsia offers eight routes directly from India to Malaysia, covering both northern and southern cities, including Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, through its short-haul airline AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) and to New Delhi and Amritsar via its medium-haul affiliate airline AirAsia X (flight code D7). In February 2024, AirAsia is set to commence flights to Thiruvananthapuram in the southern state of Kerala, marking the second direct route to the state after Kochi.
