Air New Zealand will rebrand its Airpoints loyalty program as Koru in April 2026 and expand it to five tiers, including a new top-level Koru Black status. The revamped program adds enhanced rewards, bonus Status Points, and new benefits for Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Koru Black members.

Air New Zealand is preparing a significant overhaul of its frequent-flyer program, announcing Tuesday that the long-running Airpoints scheme will be rebranded as Koru starting in April 2026. Alongside the new name, the carrier will introduce a refreshed tier structure that expands the program from three elite levels to five distinct status tiers.

Under the redesign, Koru Bronze will become the entry level for travelers without existing status. Bronze members will continue to accumulate both Airpoints Dollars and Status Points as they do today.

Above Bronze, Air New Zealand will replace its current Silver, Gold, and Elite categories with Koru Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The thresholds for maintaining those levels will stay the same—450 Status Points for Silver, 900 for Gold, and 1,500 for Platinum—and members will retain all existing perks with several new enhancements added.

Koru Silver members will gain access to a perk previously reserved for higher tiers: five bonus Status Points for every 10 qualifying Air New Zealand flights, a benefit designed to reward travelers who fly frequently on shorter domestic or regional routes.

Gold and Platinum members will see the introduction of a Status Points Top-Up feature. This option allows those who fall slightly short of requalification to receive up to 30 extra Status Points for Gold or 50 for Platinum once every three years—potentially helping members maintain their tier in years with lower travel activity.

Platinum members will also enjoy expanded Status Rewards and entry into the new Koru Premier Lounge at Auckland International Airport when it opens.

At the top of the program, Air New Zealand is unveiling an all-new elite tier: Koru Black. Achieving this level will require a substantial commitment—3,200 Status Points annually, including 1,920 earned from qualifying flights. Koru Black flyers will inherit every Platinum benefit and gain additional privileges such as 40 Status Points for every 10 qualifying flights, up to 70 Status Points in top-ups, and a suite of VIP-style perks: three recognition upgrades, two additional short-haul upgrades each year, and eight valet parking vouchers. Their Airpoints Dollars will also be boosted by 60 percent, exceeding the uplift received by Silver (10%), Gold (30%), and Platinum (50%) members.

The sweeping redesign signals Air New Zealand’s intention to sharpen its competitive edge and better reward its most loyal customers as international travel demand continues to grow.
