Air CanadaAir Canada is significantly broadening its presence in Latin America as part of its New Frontiers Strategy, unveiling several new routes that strengthen its global footprint and tap into growing demand for leisure travel to Central and South America. The airline’s latest announcement includes nonstop service to Lima, Peru, alongside new routes to Belize, Puerto Escondido, and Tepic in Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit.
New Nonstop Flights to Lima
Starting in December 2025, Air Canada will launch four weekly nonstop flights to Lima, Peru—two from Toronto and two from Montreal. These routes mark the airline’s first-ever nonstop service from Montreal to the Peruvian capital and build on its strategy to connect Canadians with high-demand vacation destinations across Latin America.
Lima joins a growing list of new additions to Air Canada’s winter network, which now includes:
-
Montreal–Belize
-
Toronto–Puerto Escondido
-
Vancouver–Tepic, Riviera Nayarit
Strategic Growth in Latin America
According to Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo at Air Canada, the expansion reflects a deliberate move to diversify the airline’s global offering and capitalize on strong consumer interest in emerging travel markets.
“Air Canada is further diversifying its global network this winter under its New Frontiers Strategy by capitalizing on strong leisure demand to sought-after vacation destinations in South and Central America and Mexico’s Pacific coast,” said Galardo. “Whether exploring Peru’s ancient ruins, snorkeling in Belize’s Barrier Reef, or discovering Mexico’s vibrant coastal towns, our customers will have exciting new travel options this winter.”
In total, the airline will offer more than 80,000 weekly seats to 52 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean during the Winter 2025/2026 season—marking its largest Latin American expansion to date.
Why Lima?
Lima, Peru’s capital and largest city, offers a rich blend of history, culture, and gastronomy. Travellers can explore:
-
The Historic Centre of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
-
Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city featuring the Government Palace and Cathedral.
-
The Monasterio de San Francisco, known for its eerie catacombs and ornate cloisters.
-
The Huaca Pucllana, a striking adobe pyramid from the pre-Inca era nestled in the Miraflores district.
-
A world-renowned culinary scene, with Lima often hailed as one of the gastronomic capitals of the Americas.
Supporting a Broader Transformation
This Latin American expansion complements Air Canada’s larger global strategy, which includes:
-
Investing in fleet modernization, including the addition of Airbus A321XLRs.
-
Enhancing its premium product offerings to cater to high-yield leisure and business travellers.
-
Growing its cargo division in alignment with global e-commerce and trade demand.
With these new routes, Air Canada continues to position itself as a major player in international leisure travel while offering Canadians broader access to culturally rich and sun-soaked destinations.
