GLOAether: Manchester Airport’s Exclusive Private Terminal Experience
Aether, Manchester Airport’s new private terminal, launched in November 2024, taking over the former PremiAir VIP terminal. Operated by CAVU, a subsidiary of Manchester Airports Group (MAG), Aether offers a premium alternative to traditional airport lounges, providing a seamless and exclusive pre-flight and arrival experience.
Location and Accessibility
Located on Wilmslow Old Road, Aether is a five-minute drive from Manchester Airport’s main transport hub. The terminal is accessible only by car, ensuring privacy but posing a challenge for those relying on public transport. Guests can use a private parking area, with flexible short-stay options and valet parking services.
Facilities and Design
The bright, open-plan lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows, a chic neutral color scheme, and artwork by local artist Conor McGuinness. The space includes a main lounge, private meeting rooms, a baggage drop area, and security and border control facilities. Aether hosts a maximum of 12 guests at a time, ensuring an intimate, quiet atmosphere.

Service Packages and Pricing
Aether offers three departure and arrival packages, all requiring pre-booking at least 24 hours in advance:
- Express (£110 per person): Lounge access, private security, and chauffeured transport to the gate. No baggage drop, dining, or drinks included.
- Inclusive – Cabin Bags (£230 per person): Includes all Express services plus complimentary dining and drinks.
- Inclusive – Checked Bags (£290 per person): The premium option, allowing checked luggage handling and access to all services.
Guests flying with partner airlines (Emirates, SAS, Cathay Pacific, and Virgin Atlantic) can check their bags at Aether, while others must check luggage at the main terminal first.
Arrival Services and Future Expansion
For arriving passengers, the packages are priced the same, with chauffeur service from the gate and baggage collection. Aether is developing a new £90 package for domestic arrivals (UK and Ireland).
Dining and Amenities
Curated by chef Adam Reid, Aether’s dining menu includes locally sourced ingredients from suppliers like Chorlton Cheesemongers and Cheshire Smokehouse. Offerings range from breakfast pastries and crumpets to gourmet lunch and dinner options, complemented by a well-stocked bar and Nespresso machines. Dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
Aether provides an elite, stress-free airport experience, combining luxury, privacy, and convenience. While its exclusive location and pricing may limit accessibility, it sets a new standard for premium airport services in the UK.
