The new option joins existing rewards such as upgrades, lounge access and priority services, enabling companies to integrate sustainability into everyday travel decisions while managing business trips through a single digital platform.

Etihad Airways has expanded its corporate travel offering by allowing business clients to redeem Etihad for Businesscredits for carbon offsets, giving companies a new way to align air travel with sustainability objectives.
Announced in December, the enhancement enables corporate customers to use earned credits through the Etihad for Business platform to offset the carbon emissions generated by their flights. The option now sits alongside existing rewards such as cabin upgrades, priority services, lounge access and excess baggage, broadening how companies can apply the value generated by their travel spend.
Sustainability Built into Corporate Travel
The addition of carbon offsets follows Etihad’s relaunch of the Etihad for Business programme in May, which introduced a fully digital platform designed to simplify corporate travel management. The programme allows companies to manage contracts, track travel activity and redeem credits in one place, while offering flexibility in how those credits are used.
By integrating carbon offset redemptions directly into the platform, Etihad aims to make sustainability a more practical and accessible part of everyday corporate travel decisions. Rather than treating offsets as a separate process, companies can now incorporate environmental considerations into the same system they use to manage trips and rewards.
Responding to Corporate Demand
The move reflects growing demand from organisations seeking to reduce or mitigate the environmental impact of business travel while maintaining operational efficiency. As more companies set voluntary emissions targets and strengthen ESG commitments, airlines are increasingly being asked to provide tools that support those goals.
Etihad has positioned the new offset option as a way for corporate clients to turn travel activity into measurable environmental action, using credits they already earn rather than additional out-of-pocket spending.
Global Loyatly Organisation Take:
With carbon offsets now part of its corporate rewards portfolio, Etihad for Business continues to evolve beyond traditional loyalty benefits. The programme’s expansion underscores a broader shift in the business travel sector, where sustainability, flexibility and digital convenience are becoming as important as cost savings and premium services.
For corporate travellers and travel managers alike, Etihad’s latest update signals a growing convergence between responsible travel practices and modern loyalty programmes.
