GLOPret a Manger is increasing the price of its coffee subscription service by 25% as the cost of milk, coffee beans and staff pay goes up. The monthly fee would rise to £25 from £20 from 3 February for new subscribers, and from 16 March for those already signed up.
Pret commented that increase was due to imminent price rise on inflation and the government’s planned increase in VAT to 20% from 1 April, from 12.5% at present. The VAT rise alone would add £2 to the cost of the subscription, and £1.50 would go towards extra staff pay and a further £1.50 to cover inflation.
With the Pret Coffee Subscription the customers can enjoy up to 5 freshly-prepared drinks a day for a single monthly transaction of £25. The customers can redeem 1 eligible drink every 30 minutes. This can be any size, any milk, plus 1 add-on and can be redeemed against any drink prepared by the Barista including: organic coffee, tea, hot chocolate and iced drinks (subject to drink availability, not all drinks are sold in all shops). It also includes any milk alternatives where this is possible.
Pret allows to manage the subscription through the app and cancel or pause anytime.
