With the collection, Lufthansa WorldShop offers special collectibles that showcase Jafri's signature brushwork: after the motifs were applied to the aircraft skin, the artist partially repainted them with acrylic colour, which gives the works a haptic component with individual details. In addition, there are ten numbered art prints per motif. All available artworks are hand-signed and of course have a certificate of authenticity.

LufthansaFrankfurt am Main, 6 October 2022 – After the last extremely successful artist cooperation, Lufthansa WorldShop was able to win the British Sacha Jafri, one of the most commercially successful contemporary artists, for an exclusive partnership: from 11 October 2022, twelve original motifs from his current project “The Art Maze” will be available on Worldshop. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is a picturesque interpretation of 30 World Heritage Sites. The selected motifs were printed on canvas and applied to parts of the outer skin of a decommissioned Lufthansa Airbus A320-211.
The combination of art, culture and world travel
It is no coincidence that Jafri’s art has found its way onto aircraft parts. Similar to aviation, the artist also wants to connect people with places and cultures: “In a world where online and physical life are fully integrated, this project is about reconnecting humanity to the beauty that surrounds us in our natural world by reconnecting to our heritage and cultural history,“ said Jafri. The painted airplane parts have been to many of the places depicted and are now reconnecting people and cultures as works of art. In addition, Sacha Jafri only produces good art if there is a connection to humanitarian aid, which is why a large part of his proceeds go to donation projects.
Johann-Philipp Bruns, Managing Director of Miles & More GmbH and responsible for the Sales business division, explains the similarities Jafri shares with the Lufthansa Group: „We also connect people and cultures every day. In addition, the issues of corporate responsibility and sustainability are a real concern for us. We have already proven that aircraft parts can be given a second life in a creative way with the five very successful Lufthansa Upcycling Collections. Furthermore, the partnership with help alliance is an integral part of our humanitarian commitment. The cooperation with Sacha Jafri offers a very special opportunity to spread our common message through art and to create extraordinary connections.“
