Minor Hotels has announced the appointment of Giles Selves as Senior Vice President of Luxury Hotels for Europe. In this important role, Giles will be responsible for overseeing the strategic and commercial direction of the luxury brands within Minor Hotels. His focus will be on improving guest experiences, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting the growth and development of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas and Tivoli Hotels & Resorts across Europe, as the company continues to expand throughout the continent.

With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a strong understanding of the needs of modern luxury travelers, Giles brings a proven track record of delivering exceptional results in various operational roles. He joined Minor Hotels in 2015 and has successfully managed Anantara properties in Thailand, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Now, Giles has the task of seamlessly implementing the Anantara and Tivoli brands in Europe and providing an unparalleled guest experience for the company’s luxury portfolio in the region.

Before his move to Europe, Giles spent nearly 5 years in the Maldives, initially as General Manager at the esteemed Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas. He was later promoted to Cluster General Manager, overseeing multiple properties while also leading the pre-opening of another resort. During the challenging times of the pandemic, Giles demonstrated his leadership skills and commercial acumen by driving revenue growth and operational efficiency, resulting in two of the best years on record for the hotels in 2021 and 2022.

Giles began his career with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where he worked in various roles related to food and beverage (F&B) development and operations. He spent 19 years with the company, starting in hotels in London and Scotland before transitioning to an F&B role at the company’s headquarters in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Afterward, he moved back into operations in Greece before eventually joining Minor Hotels in Thailand. Throughout his career, Giles has been recognized for his strong leadership, strategic vision, and ability to foster a positive and collaborative culture.

In his current position as Senior Vice President of Luxury Hotels for Europe, Giles is responsible for expanding the Anantara Europe portfolio, which currently consists of eight properties. He closely collaborates with General Managers, operational teams, and corporate support functions to maintain the highest standards of service, quality, and brand consistency across all properties. Additionally, he actively seeks opportunities to enhance brand awareness and elevate the Anantara experience in Europe.

Dillip Rajakarier, the CEO of Minor Hotels, expressed his excitement about Giles Selves’ appointment, emphasizing his extensive experience and deep knowledge of the hospitality industry in exclusive Asian destinations. Rajakarier believes that Giles’ leadership and operational expertise will strengthen Minor Hotels’ position as leaders in the luxury hospitality industry in Europe.
