Marks & SpencerM&S has joined other grocery stores in implementing special pricing exclusively for members of its loyalty program. According to IGD, the retailer is currently testing Sparks Prices in 50 stores located in South Wales, the North East, and West Midlands. This reduced pricing applies to selected ‘Dine In’ meals and specific bottles of Prosecco, resulting in savings of up to £2. It is the latest value proposition from M&S, as they recently announced an extension of their price lock promise on 150 products until autumn.
Alex Freudmann, the Managing Director of M&S Food, emphasized the importance of value to their customers. While customers are anticipating an enjoyable summer, they also desire certainty when it comes to their spending. Freudmann expressed the company’s commitment to meeting their customers’ expectations, noting that M&S’s value perception is currently at its highest point in six years. This achievement is attributed to their unwavering focus on pricing without compromising the quality, innovation, and sourcing standards that make M&S Food stand out in the market.
Earlier this year, M&S conducted a trial for a premium loyalty tier called Sparks Plus, which offered customers “VIP treatment” for a fee of £120 for a 12-month period. This service was introduced shortly after the introduction of Sparks Pay, which allows shoppers to borrow up to £500 for their shopping needs.
