Travellers will have a one-stop online store to purchase travel and other consumer goods on Lantoncloud after Lanmei Airlines moves its bookings to the e-commerce platform, similar to that which AirAsia has created with its SuperApp.

Lanmei Airlines, a budget-friendly airline based in Cambodia, has adopted an unconventional approach by shutting down its official website. Instead, the airline is now redirecting online customers to utilize the Lantoncloud.com app for their booking needs.

In a message shared on its Facebook page on August 16, the Chinese-owned airline, which is registered in Cambodia, informed its customers that its “official website www.lanmeiairlines.com is no longer accessible.” It extended an invitation for customers to embrace a fresh booking experience by using the Lantoncloud.com App for their Lanmei Airlines reservations.

Conducting a search on Google reveals that the website www.lanmeiairlines.com is currently active and includes a notification indicating that it is the official website. This might be a response to an unrelated website named Flylanmeiairline.com, which utilizes a comparable identifier and could imply a connection to the airline’s booking operations.

In spite of the announcement by Lanmei Airlines, the official website remains operational, allowing users to search for available flights. However, upon confirming their interest and progressing to the subsequent steps of the booking process, the interface transitions to the Lantoncloud App.

Earlier this year, the airline did provide a prior indication of their intention to replace the official website with a novel booking and sales strategy tied to the Lantoncloud platform. Lanmei Airlines and the Cambodia Hotel Association (CHA) unveiled a memorandum of understanding on June 2nd. The report from the Phnom Penh Post indicates that this collaboration was centered around the Lantoncloud app, developed by Lanton Cloud Service Technology Co Ltd, an affiliate of the Lanmei Aviation Group led by founder and owner Li Kun.

During the signing event, Din Somethearith, the President of CHA, expressed that this partnership would create a fresh avenue for hoteliers to engage with potential guests once the hotel-booking functionality was launched on June 29th. Somethearith emphasized that the expansion and increased flight offerings by Lanmei Airlines would contribute to the swift recovery of the tourism industry, particularly in attracting more visitors from China and the surrounding region. He encouraged CHA members to participate in the venture to potentially enhance their occupancy rates, as quoted by the Xinhua News Agency.

Li Kun, the head of Lanmei Aviation Group, noted that the Lantoncloud platform had been officially introduced in 2022 and had acquired the initial e-commerce license in Cambodia. He highlighted that the Cambodia-based Lantoncloud app had been actively expanding its presence within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China. He further expressed that the e-commerce platform named “Lantoncloud” would facilitate collaboration within Cambodia’s hotel, tourism, and supply chain sectors.

With Lanmei Airlines transitioning its flight bookings to the e-commerce platform, travelers will gain access to a comprehensive online destination for purchasing travel-related services and other consumer products via Lantoncloud. This development has the potential to resemble the concept that AirAsia has successfully implemented with its popular SuperApp.
