GLOStar Alliance members United and LOT Polish Airlines have allowed their longstanding codeshare agreement to expire.
The codeshare agreement, which had been in place for an extended period, reached its expiration in the final week of September, as reported by the website AeroRoutes. AeroRoutes sources its information from airline schedule changes within the Global Distribution Systems (GDSs), individual airline websites, and data provided by OAG.
United has chosen not to provide a comment on the matter.
Under the previous codeshare arrangement, United had affixed its flight codes to LOT routes departing from Warsaw, Poland, and heading to Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, and London Heathrow.
LOT, on the other hand, had placed its own flight codes on 17 routes operated by United, all originating from Chicago.
It’s worth noting that the two airlines did not have a codeshare agreement for flights between Poland and the United States.
Despite the lapse of their codeshare agreement, United and LOT maintain their partnership as members of the Star Alliance. Consequently, United MileagePlus members can still accrue and utilize frequent flyer points when flying on LOT-operated flights.
According to flight schedule data from Cirium, LOT currently operates seven routes to the United States, serving five U.S. destinations. Notably, there are no other airlines offering nonstop flights between Poland and the United States.
