GLOThe World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2023 revealed the top travel brands globally, bringing together leaders in the tourism industry at Dubai’s Burj Al Arab. This event marked the pinnacle of WTA’s 30th-anniversary celebration of recognizing excellence in travel.

The Maldives stood out, earning the prestigious title of ‘World’s Leading Destination,’ while the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) was honored as the ‘World’s Leading Tourist Board.’ The Philippines received accolades for the ‘World’s Leading Dive Destination’ and ‘World’s Leading Beach Destination,’ celebrating its pristine beaches and reefs. Madeira’s natural beauty secured the title of ‘World’s Leading Island Destination,’ and Cannes was named the ‘World’s Leading Festival & Event Destination’ for its timeless elegance and top-notch facilities.
The Caribbean had a strong presence, with Saint Lucia winning ‘World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination,’ and Jamaica demonstrating its tourism prowess by claiming ‘World’s Leading Family Destination’ and ‘World’s Leading Cruise Destination.’
Qatar’s flourishing tourism sector earned several awards, with Doha recognized as the ‘World’s Leading Sports Tourism Destination’ after the success of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Doha also won the title of ‘World’s Leading Business Travel Destination,’ and Qatar Tourism received the ‘World’s Leading Marketing Campaign’ award.
In the newcomer categories, Atlantis The Royal in Dubai was crowned ‘World’s Leading New Resort,’ Raffles Doha in Qatar won ‘World’s Leading New Hotel,’ and Red Sea International Airport in Saudi Arabia was acknowledged as the ‘World’s Leading New Airport.’
The iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah served as a fitting venue for the ceremony, symbolizing Arabian luxury and playing a significant role in positioning Dubai on the global luxury tourism map.
Graham Cooke, Founder of WTA, expressed his gratitude for hosting the 30th-anniversary celebrations at Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, praising the world winners for their contributions to raising the standard of tourism excellence.
Arabian aviation demonstrated its strength, with Qatar Airways winning ‘World’s Leading Airline’ and ‘World’s Leading Airline – Business Class,’ Etihad Airways securing ‘World’s Leading Airline – Economy Class’ and ‘World’s Leading Airline – Customer Experience,’ and Emirates being named ‘World’s Leading Airline – First Class.’
The luxurious Jumeirah Al Naseem in the UAE was recognized as the ‘World’s Leading Hotel,’ while Sardinia’s Forte Village Resort claimed the title of ‘World’s Leading Resort.’
