TescoTesco is revising its approach to displaying prices on its Clubcard deals in response to criticism from consumer organization Which?. Going forward, the total price will be accompanied by the price per unit, both in stores and online.
The decision follows concerns raised by Which? about Tesco potentially violating regulations regarding how it presents Clubcard prices, making it challenging for shoppers to compare deals. Despite initially disputing these claims, Tesco has now committed to implementing changes.
According to Tesco’s UK chief executive Jason Tarry, this adjustment has been in the pipeline for some time, given the extensive range of 8,000 Clubcard offers weekly. Tarry stated that these modifications will gradually appear in all Tesco stores as staff update millions of price labels on shelves. Additionally, unit prices will be incorporated into Clubcard Prices deals online.
Rocio Concha, director of policy and advocacy at Which?, emphasized the necessity of transparent pricing, especially for consumers facing financial difficulties. Concha welcomed Tesco’s decision to address the absence of unit pricing on Clubcard offers, describing it as a significant step towards compliance with regulations. She expressed anticipation for the swift implementation of these changes across all Tesco outlets and online platforms to benefit shoppers promptly.
