Hyatt Hotels Corporation, in partnership with Rio Hotel & Casino, has announced an exciting development for World of Hyatt members: they can now accrue and utilize points at the Hyatt-affiliated Rio Hotel & Casino, currently undergoing an extensive, multi-phase renovation totaling $340 million. The first phase of this renovation project is slated for completion in fall 2024, marking the transition of the all-suite hotel to Hyatt’s Independent Collection under the Destination by Hyatt brand.

David Tarr, Hyatt’s Senior Vice President of Development for the Americas, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to collaborate with Rio Hotel & Casino on this transformative venture to rejuvenate this iconic property as a Destination by Hyatt hotel. These Destination by Hyatt hotels are unique in their essence, embodying the true essence of their respective locales, and Rio Hotel & Casino will be no exception. This renovation will serve as a gateway for guests to indulge in purposefully curated entertainment and immersive experiences, characterized by authentic design and warm, inviting service. We eagerly anticipate providing World of Hyatt members and guests with an authentic and unforgettable Las Vegas experience.”

Rio Hotel & Casino, owned and operated by Dreamscape, will mark Nevada’s inaugural Destination by Hyatt hotel and the third Hyatt property in the Las Vegas area. Once finalized, the Rio Hotel & Casino will boast refreshed design elements, enhanced amenities, diverse offerings, and elevated service standards. The first phase of renovations commenced in 2023 and is nearing completion, encompassing upgrades to the 1,501-room Ipanema tower, arrival area, exterior facade, lobby, gaming floor, sports book, various dining outlets, meeting spaces, and outdoor pool area.

Phase two of the renovation will encompass a comprehensive redesign of the hotel’s 1,012 Masquerade Tower guestrooms and associated public areas.

Eric Birnbaum, Dreamscape’s Founder, expressed excitement about the collaboration, remarking, “We are thrilled to welcome World of Hyatt members to the Rio Hotel & Casino as we embark on revitalizing this iconic Las Vegas landmark. For nearly three decades, the Rio has been one of Las Vegas’ most vibrant and talked-about resorts. Partnering with Hyatt provides us with the opportunity to introduce this extraordinary property to a fresh audience of travelers, and we eagerly anticipate showcasing the transformations we have made to date and will continue to make throughout the renovation.”

Upon completion, the hotel will cater to Las Vegas’ burgeoning meetings and events sector, boasting over 220,000 square feet of function space and state-of-the-art meeting facilities.
