AccorWhere music expands horizons
This year, Sofitel continues to uphold its commitment to showcasing French culture across borders through a partnership with the Philharmonie de Paris. Together, the two institutions are promoting classical music overseas to make it heard by the broadest possible audience. The program includes a tour of North America from the Orchestre de Paris and its conductor Klaus Mäkelä exclusive concerts at the brand’s hotels.
Luxury harmonizes with responsibility
Sofitel continues its pursuit of responsible luxury with an authentic sense of service and the zest of French culture. In this collaboration, two French ambassadors of culture come together to express their shared determination to propagate classical music throughout North America, through performances at iconic venues that are open to all.
“At Sofitel, we have always cared about promoting culture. This partnership with the Philharmonie de Paris is no chanceoccurrence, as we share a number of values, particularly in the area of inclusivity. This collaboration enables us to continue sharingclassical music – particularly French classical music – throughout the world. This comes to life in our logo, our Cultural Link; whichhas become a true symbol of cross-cultural exchange. Once again, we are bringing art into our hotels.” — Nicolas Gronier, VPGlobal Marketing Sofitel
The Orchestre de Paris, where music finds refuge
The Orchestre de Paris is committed to the activities of the Philharmonie de Paris, of which it is a department, demonstrating that the demands of creation and the objective of democratization go hand in hand. It performs in the Philharmonie’s symphonic concert season, two concerts a week, in the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez and on international tours, contributing to the institution’s reputation. The orchestra’s artists regularly perform in the Philharmonie’s different spaces, in the Studio, the Amphitheatre and the Music Museum. The Orchestre de Paris plays an active role in the institution’s audiovisual projects, and pursues a dynamic educational ambition, organizing orchestral academies for young professional musicians, offering family concerts, performing in schools, hospitals and various associations supporting the elderly (Les Petits Frères des Pauvres, etc.), and supporting a Demos orchestra project (a music and orchestral education scheme with a social vocation) aimed at young advanced musicians.
“The Orchestre de Paris constitutes one of the pillars of the Philharmonie. Its young conductor, Klaus Mäkelä, stands out as one ofthe stars of symphony. Thanks to the remarkable consonance that its members have reached, the orchestra is now recognized as a reference in France and throughout the world. An exemplary ambassador of the Philharmonie beyond its walls, the orchestra willperform in the United States and Canada on a tour funded exclusively with the support of its community of sponsors. I commendthe decision of the Sofitel brand, which is just as committed as we are to the dissemination of the values that we uphold.” — OlivierMantei, General Director of the Philharmonie de Paris
The best of both worlds is born
The orchestra then traveled across the Atlantic with Klaus Mäkelä, 28, one of the world’s most coveted conductors, to offer North American audiences 4 exceptional performances in Ann Arbor, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Concert Hall and Place des Arts in Montreal. The New York and Montreal concerts will be preceded by two exclusive musical performances, by musicians from the orchestra, in a Sofitel suite in these two destinations.
