UberUber announced that it will launch its Uber Shuttle service in the United States this summer, providing transportation to events and airports. This service, already available in Egypt and India, was announced in New York City.
While Uber has not specified which U.S. airports will have shuttle services, the company is collaborating with airport partners and local officials to offer convenient and affordable airport transportation. When the service becomes available, customers will see a ‘Shuttle’ option in the Uber app. They can book up to five seats from seven days in advance to five minutes before the shuttle’s scheduled departure, and pay and track their shuttle within 25 minutes of departure through the app.
Riders will know their fare before booking, and prices will not be subject to surge pricing. Upon the shuttle’s arrival, riders will validate their QR-code ticket with the driver and will be able to rate and tip drivers through the app, similar to other Uber rides.
Uber also aims to include Uber Shuttle for Uber for Business clients. Since 2021, Uber has operated shuttle routes for employees in its Mission Bay office in San Francisco and for employees in Seattle and Bangalore, India. The company has also started offering shuttle services to some Uber for Business clients in international markets and sees significant potential to expand this service to more business clients in the U.S.
