Minor Hotels has announced that Gonzalo Aguilar will take on the role of CEO for Europe and the Americas starting January 1, 2025.

He will take over from Ramón Aragonés, who is retiring from his executive role at the end of this year. Aragonés will remain with the company as a Board of Directors member and will serve as Non-Executive Vice Chairman.

“Ramón has devoted his entire career to the hotel industry. Since joining the group, then known as NH Hotel Group, in 2009, he has played a key role in transforming it into one of the leading hospitality groups in Europe and the Americas. His leadership, vision, and dedication have been truly inspirational. Today, as we celebrate his remarkable legacy, we also express our gratitude for his exceptional contributions to Minor Hotels,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and President of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas.

Gonzalo Aguilar, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region at Marriott, will join Minor Hotels. Aguilar brings over 30 years of hospitality industry experience, including roles as General Manager and various executive positions. At Marriott, he oversaw the integration of AC Hotels and promoted growth in the EMEA region. Aguilar began his Marriott career in 1994 as a Restaurant Manager at the Denver Marriott Tech Center in Colorado.

Aguilar will start at Minor Hotels Europe & Americas on October 1 for a three-month transition period with Ramón Aragonés. This transition aims to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities and maintain continuity in the company’s strategic direction.

“Gonzalo’s comprehensive knowledge of the hospitality industry and his proven leadership will be crucial in guiding and executing Minor Hotels Europe & Americas’ strategic business plan. His insights into the multibrand and asset-light hotel sector in Europe and the Americas will position Minor Hotels for continued success,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and President of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas.
