Jetstar Asia Announces Budget Flights to Colombo

Starting 21 November 2024, Jetstar Asia (3K) will become the only low-cost airline offering direct flights from Singapore to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Singapore-based budget carrier will run five return flights weekly using its Airbus A320 fleet, providing over 90,000 low-cost seats between the two cities each year.

Starting 21 November 2024, Jetstar Asia (3K) will become the only low-cost airline offering direct flights from Singapore to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Singapore-based budget carrier will run five return flights weekly using its Airbus A320 fleet, providing over 90,000 low-cost seats between the two cities each year.

With a split schedule featuring both morning and evening departures from Changi Airport, the service offers convenience for those starting their journey in Singapore as well as seamless connections for travelers arriving in Singapore on Jetstar Airways’ (JQ) daily flights from Melbourne or up to six weekly flights from Perth.

To celebrate the launch, Jetstar Asia has introduced a one-way fare sale from Singapore to Colombo, with prices starting at SGD149*. Club Jetstar members can enjoy even lower fares, beginning at SGD139*.

Jetstar Asia CEO John Simeone described Colombo as a gateway to Sri Lanka and an ideal destination for adventure seekers, couples, and families.

“Today’s announcement showcases our commitment to expanding our destination offerings. I would like to express my gratitude to Changi Airport Group, Sri Lanka Tourism, Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka, and Hayleys for their continued support.”

Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, noted that Jetstar Asia’s direct flights between Singapore and Sri Lanka will significantly boost the country’s tourism industry.
“Jetstar Asia is making history as the first low-cost carrier to provide direct flights from Singapore to Colombo, opening new travel opportunities to Sri Lanka,” Gajabahu said. “On behalf of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, we extend our congratulations to Jetstar Asia and anticipate a successful partnership that will create unforgettable experiences for all our customers.”

Athula Galketiya, Chair of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka), also welcomed the announcement of Jetstar Asia’s scheduled flights, emphasizing the positive impact on tourism growth.
“This new connectivity will enhance the travel experience for both local and international passengers. We appreciate Jetstar Asia’s choice of Bandaranaike International Airport,” Galketiya concluded.
