EmiratesEmirates Airlines announced on October 8 the suspension of its flights to and from Iran due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. In addition to canceling flights to Iran, the airline also suspended its services to Beirut, Lebanon, though it has resumed flights to Iraq.
Qatar Airways similarly announced on its website the cancellation of all flights to Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, without specifying when these routes would be reinstated. Emirates is not the only airline to make such decisions; Lufthansa has suspended flights to Tel Aviv until October 31 and to Tehran until October 26.

Other airlines, including Air Algerie, Air Europa, Air France-KLM, Air India, Delta Air Lines, FlyDubai, Iran Air, Ryanair, Virgin Atlantic, Wizz Air, Iraqi Airways, Bulgaria Air, and United Airlines, have also had to adjust or suspend flights in the Middle East due to the growing instability in the region.
In an official statement, Emirates said: “Flights to/from Iran (Tehran) have been cancelled effective 08 October 2024. Customers transiting through Dubai with final destination Tehran will not be accepted for travel from their point of origin until 15 October 2024. Emirates flights to/from Beirut remain cancelled until 15 October 2024. Customers transiting through Dubai with final destination Beirut will not be accepted for travel from their point of origin until further notice. Affected customers should contact their booking agent for alternative travel options or contact us if they have booked directly with Emirates.”
These flight cancellations are a response to the recent conflict involving Hezbollah, Iran, and Israel, which has disrupted hundreds of flights and forced many airlines in the region to make operational changes.
