Bringing Entertainment to Life
Arcade is designed to provide short-form, casual gaming experiences themed around popular DStv shows and sports. It is seamlessly built into the existing MyDStv app, eliminating the need for additional downloads or accounts. The games are connected to the DStv Rewards programme, allowing players to earn real-world benefits such as BoxOffice movie rentals, subscription upgrades, and tickets to events simply by playing.
Flagship Game: Match Challenge (Shaka iLembe Edition)
The first major title available on Arcade is Match Challenge, inspired by the historical drama series Shaka iLembe. This match-three puzzle game features African cultural symbols such as spears, shields, and drums, offering immersive gameplay that resonates with local storytelling. As new episodes of Shaka iLembe air, additional levels are unlocked, keeping the experience fresh and aligned with the show’s narrative.
Initial player data has shown strong engagement, with average gameplay sessions lasting around 41 minutes and peaking during the show’s broadcast slots.
More Games to Follow
Arcade will soon expand with two additional titles: Warrior’s Run, an action-packed obstacle runner, and Mystery Kingdom, a hidden-object puzzle game. These offerings aim to diversify the gaming experience while remaining rooted in African themes and storytelling. In addition, the platform features other family-friendly titles such as Teen Titans Go, Crusher, Triple Hoops, Wagon Dash, and Dodge Ball.
Rewards and Loyalty Integration
A key feature of Arcade is its integration with DStv Rewards. Players collect in-game achievements that translate into loyalty points and unlock various perks, including access to premium content, free movies, and exclusive giveaways.
