Alaska AirlinesAlaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan has been crowned the Best Airline Rewards Program in the U.S. for the 11th consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report, a remarkable streak that reinforces the program’s strong reputation for customer value and accessibility. In a market where airline loyalty schemes are increasingly shifting towards spend-based models and complex rules, Mileage Plan continues to stand out with a structure that rewards miles based on the distance flown—an increasingly rare approach.
The annual ranking by U.S. News assesses major U.S. airline programs using a methodology that reflects what today’s travellers truly value. Rather than just favouring high spenders, the evaluation takes into account how easily members can earn and use points, the scope and quality of airline partners, the strength of elite benefits, and operational performance metrics like punctuality and customer satisfaction. Alaska Airlines excelled in these areas, particularly for its user-friendly redemption options and generous earning model.
One of the key advantages of Mileage Plan is that it still awards one mile for every mile flown on most fares, with a minimum of 500 miles per flight. This distance-based system is increasingly uncommon as other carriers adopt spend-based earning, often disadvantaging casual or budget-conscious travellers. The program also offers a wide range of redemption possibilities, not only on Alaska flights but also across an extensive network of global partners. As a member of the Oneworld alliance, Alaska allows its members to earn and redeem miles on more than 20 partner airlines, including major international names like Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines, and British Airways.
In this year’s ranking, Mileage Plan topped the list, ahead of other major U.S. carriers. United Airlines’ MileagePlus secured second place, followed by American Airlines’ AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, and JetBlue’s TrueBlue. While each of these programs has its own strengths—such as United’s large global network or Delta’s flexible booking options—Mileage Plan was recognised for offering a more balanced and transparent experience across both domestic and international travel.

Commenting on the recognition, Brett Catlin, Vice President of Loyalty at Alaska Airlines, highlighted the program’s consistency and customer-first design. He noted that the combination of valuable earning opportunities, meaningful perks, and global reach makes Mileage Plan one of the most compelling loyalty programs available.
Looking ahead, the program is set to expand further as Alaska continues its integration with Hawaiian Airlines, offering even more travel options and elite privileges to members. With its unique blend of simplicity, fairness, and reach, Mileage Plan continues to lead the pack—providing travellers with a loyalty experience that delivers real, usable value.
