Etihad AirwaysEtihad Airways has achieved its strongest half-year results to date, posting a record profit after tax of Dh1.1 billion ($306 million) for the first half of 2025 — a 32% increase compared with the same period last year.
The surge in earnings was fueled by rising passenger demand and greater operational efficiency. Passenger traffic climbed 17% year-on-year to 10.2 million, with the airline’s load factor improving to 87%.
According to Gulf News, CEO Antonoaldo Neves said the results demonstrate both financial strength and sustained growth momentum. “We delivered Dh1.1 billion in profit, up 32% from last year, and we continue to grow at 15–16% annually,” Neves said, noting that Etihad has surpassed the 100-aircraft milestone with more deliveries on the way. “The second half will be even stronger. We are confident 2025 will be another remarkable year for Etihad.”
Neves also addressed speculation about a possible public listing. “Etihad is ready for an IPO at any time, but the decision rests with our shareholder,” he explained. “Our performance shows the company is financially prepared should that step be taken.”
Chairman Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa highlighted the airline’s rapid network expansion, with 27 new destinations launched or announced this year alone. “Etihad is proud to support Abu Dhabi’s position as one of the world’s most connected cities, strengthening both direct travel and stopover opportunities,” he said.
The airline’s fleet continues to expand quickly, with 20 aircraft added in the past 18 months — including a record five deliveries in July — bringing the total to more than 100. Etihad now serves nearly 90 destinations worldwide.
Workforce growth has matched the airline’s expansion. In the first half of 2025, Etihad hired over 1,700 new employees, including more than 100 pilots and 1,000 cabin crew, while also promoting more than 1,100 existing staff. “Ultimately, our success is driven by our people,” Neves said. “We want to thank our teams for their hard work and commitment to delivering excellent service while ensuring sustainable growth.”
